We’re really pleased you’re thinking of joining our family. It couldn’t be easier to apply. Whether you know exactly which opportunity you’re after, or would like to explore the full range of possibilities we offer, there are just three simple steps to follow. And here they are:
Before submitting your application, it’s important you feel B&Q is the right employer for you. Have a look around this site and DIY.com, visit your local store and check out our social media sites to get a full picture of who we are, what we do, and what we stand for.
If you’re confident B&Q is right for you (and we hope you are) have a look at our available jobs in our stores and our SSO. You’ll find them in the find your role section. If you’re unsure about anything, just take a look at our Recruitment FAQs.
If you find a job that seems right for you, just create your personal account and complete your online job application. This will take less than half an hour. You’ll get to tell us all about yourself and your experiences, and all the information you provide will be kept confidential.
And that’s it! Once you’ve finished, we’ll look at your details against our selection criteria, and will be in touch to let you know if you’ve been successful or not.
If your application is successful, you’ll be invited to a telephone or video interview with one of our specialist recruiters. This will take around twenty minutes. Following the telephone interview, we’ll email you about the status of your application. The next step, depending on the job you’re applying for, will either be a face-to-face interview or a selection event.
Interviews will last around an hour, and we’ll use them to look at how you like to work and what kind of skills you have. You’ll get to meet one or two of our Line Managers during this stage.
A selection event or assessment centre involves practical, interactive exercises and potentially an interview at the end. This helps us to understand if you’d be successful at B&Q – and gives you the opportunity to get to know us a bit more too.
Many of our store management and SSO roles involve a second interview with our senior management team.
We’ll give you feedback at every stage, to let you know how things are going. If you’re successful, we’ll give a call to share the good news and discuss all the details of your new role.
