Role Purpose: The Customer Planning Manager is a strategic and delivery role, with business ownership for delivering up to two seasonal marketing campaigns per year and the resulting product, trading and other marketing initiatives that fall within the campaigns. Working with stakeholders across the business and externally to lead and facilitate the execution of the plans, to deliver the B&Q Customer objectives (brand preference, consideration, and loyalty) and helping drive the overall B&Q business objectives (LFL revenue and margin growth). Ultimately, to support the B&Q Purpose, helping more people improve their homes to make life better.
Key responsibilities
Key Accountabilities / Responsibilities:
- Responsible for all Trading events and Value campaign marketing communications across the year. Working with commercial teams, insights, creative and channels to develop communications and creative briefs, creative and launch plans for all Trading, Pricing and Value initiatives.
- Responsible for the delivery of up to two of the annual seasonal campaigns. From strategy and insight development, writing the brief, working cross-functionally across the business to deliver a world-class integrated campaign plan, and conducting a business review at the end.
- Works collaboratively with the Campaign and Creative teams to ensure the campaign ideas and creative are channel agnostic, meets the brief and holds the tension if it does not.
- Holds the marketing channels to account to liaise directly with the category teams for accurate sign-off of campaign creative.
- Works cross-functionally to ensure the right products are selected for marketing activity.
- Manages the project timeline for each campaign, liaising with each channel to ensure it is delivered.
- Manages agile changes to the trading plan and updates all marketing channels of any changes by campaign.
- Presents seasonal campaign insights, briefs, ideas and plans to senior stakeholders for approvals.
- Manages the review process of the campaigns they are accountable for and uses learnings to develop the future briefs and improving the process.
- Leads individual ad hoc strategic projects, uses the data to build a strategy and plan and delivers this cross-functionally across the business.
Required skills & experience
Required Experience & Skills:
- Significant experience working in marketing.
- Experience delivering large scale 360 marketing campaigns, with a good understanding of key marketing channels.
- Strong strategic skills with good examples of building brands and launching new products / propositions.
- Ability to synthesize information from multiple sources into a single compelling story.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Highly personable, with an ability to build strong business relationships, collaborate and build rapport and trust with stakeholders.
- Relentless internal and external customer focus.
- Ability to challenge and push back in a non-confrontational way, to get the best decision for the business.
- Leading high performing, cross-functional teams to achieve goals.
- You take the lead, make recommendations, and ensure decisions are made swiftly.
- Process improvement.

- Retail Marketing experience desirable but not essential.
