About Us

We are the largest home improvement and garden centre retailer in the UK, employing around 27,000 people nationwide.

About B&Q

B&Q is the UK’s leading home improvement and garden living retailer, helping customers have smarter homes since 1969.  The way we live, shop and use our homes may have changed over the past five decades, but we all still need homes that work for every member of our household; homes that use space brilliantly, provide a balance of comfort and practicality, and are easy to maintain and improve so they look and feel great.

Our Business

At B&Q we help make that happen by bringing together inspiring project ideas, expert support and clever solutions.  We offer great prices across 40,000 products in our 297 stores and on diy.com, and our 27,000 colleagues are respected nation-wide for providing great advice to customers.  They’re the beating heart of B&Q and their iconic orange aprons are worn with pride.

Our famously orange brand is also award-winningly green.  We’re committed to making sure our business is as sustainable as possible, and to helping our customers make planet-friendly choices in their own homes.

Parent Company

B&Q is part of Kingfisher plc, an international home improvement company with 1,211 stores in 10 countries across Europe, Russia and Turkey.

Sustainability

25% of the UK’s carbon emissions come from our homes and the combined space of all our gardens is greater than that in all our national parks.

These two stats help to show why B&Q is so serious about sustainability.  From our heritage in developing and leading in responsible timber sourcing and inclusive employment practices, through to our ambition to cut the environmental impact of our own operations and to help our customers and colleagues create sustainable homes. Sustainability is threaded right through our business.

Diversity & Inclusion

We’re committed to providing opportunities for everyone in the workplace and have always been ahead of the curve. From our pioneering project staffing our Macclesfield store entirely with people over the age of 50 in 1989, our name has been synonymous with employing older workers.

We’re proud to be a level one Disability Confident committed employer and always want to ensure that all employees, future employees and applicants to all Kingfisher companies are treated equally regardless of age, gender, marital or civil partnership status, colour, ethnic or national origin, culture, religious belief, philosophical belief, political opinion, disability, gender identity, gender reassignment or sexual orientation.
