About the role
Deputy Store Manager Designate
Full time / Part Time / Job Share - 39 hours per week

We believe anyone can improve their home to make life better. Every day, we give our millions of customers the ideas, advice, tools and confidence they need to create a home they’ll love. Join us as a Deputy Store Manager and you’ll be a big part of this.
At B&Q, we’re passionate about progression and we’re committed to growing talent from within. We also recognise the important experience that new leaders add, onboarding several designate managers through the year.
As a B&Q designate manager, you’ll have the unique opportunity to learn about us and our business, typically spending 3-6 months working across a cluster of stores (in the Glasgow area). You’ll experience management training in various store formats before being placed into your own department or store.
Due to the nature of this role, there’ll be some flexibility and travel required during your time as a designate, before being placed within a store that matches your experience within 50 miles of where you live.
We’re thinking more ambitiously about how our stores can offer our customers even more, so we’ll want you think ambitiously too – about everything. From how you make things brilliant for customers to how you help everyone in your team to be all they can be. Whether they’re about sales, processes, team performance or store standards, your big ideas will always be welcome. Working together with your Store Manager, you’ll help create the kind of store that inspires everyone who visits or works there.
Required skills & experience
A retail natural with great people skills and bags of ideas, you’ll feel right at home with us. You’re as enthusiastic about home improvement as we are, and you’ll love sharing this with your customers and colleagues. You know how to get the best out of others, and how to create an environment where people feel valued. You’ll be happy to expand your skills by using new technology and learning new ways of working. You’re flexible too – able to cover store opening hours on a rota basis, including evenings, weekends and bank holidays.
What's in it for me?
As well as a competitive salary, our benefits package includes an award-winning pension scheme, ShareSave options, 6.6 weeks holiday, payroll giving, an Employee Assistance Programme, shopping discounts, colleague wellbeing benefits and lots more! We also provide generous breaks to make sure you’re refreshed and able to perform at your best. So dependent on the duration of your shift and eligible break entitlement, we will pay you for the time you are on your break, so put your feet up on us!
As part of a great team, you’ll be supported to grow and encouraged to explore new career directions within the business and the wider group. And, because you’ll be inspiring great things for our customers and the whole business, you’ll do work worth caring about.
We want to ensure that all employees, future employees and applicants to all Kingfisher companies are treated equally regardless of age, gender, marital or civil partnership status, colour, ethnic or national origin, culture, religious belief, philosophical belief, political opinion, disability, gender identity, gender expression or sexual orientation.
