Inbound Acquisition Manager - Marketplace
Permanent From £85,000 + Pension + PMI + ShareSave + Bonus + 6.6 weeks holiday + Hybrid Working
Increase awareness of B&Q Marketplace and drive high-quality inbound merchant acquisition by leading partnerships, improving the inbound sales journey, and working closely with marketing and third parties to grow traffic to Merchant Hub. The role will also represent B&Q Marketplace at key industry events and support international expansion where brand awareness is lower.
Key responsibilities
Partnership Strategy and Development
Lead the partnerships function to drive high-quality merchant acquisition. Manage and support the Partnership Manager to build and scale relationships with key third-party organisations such as eCommerce agencies, aggregators, and technology providers. Develop the partnerships strategy and ensure these relationships generate a strong pipeline of Tier 1 and Tier 2 merchant opportunities.
Inbound Lead Conversion and Performance
Own the performance of inbound acquisition. Ensure leads generated through marketing and partnerships are effectively qualified, managed, and converted into signed merchants. Continuously review and improve conversion rates and pipeline quality.
Collaboration with Marketing
Work closely with the marketing team to ensure a steady flow of high-quality inbound leads. Provide feedback on lead quality, category demand, and merchant insights to refine targeting and campaign effectiveness.
Trade Shows and Industry Representation
Represent B&Q Marketplace at trade shows and industry events, building relationships with potential partners and merchants to support pipeline growth.
Category and Merchant Mix Optimisation
Monitor the inbound pipeline to ensure the right category mix and merchant quality. Identify gaps and work with partnerships and marketing to attract merchants that strengthen the marketplace assortment.
Team Leadership and Development
Manage and coach two Business Development Executives to achieve inbound contract targets. Ensure due diligence and compliance processes are followed while maintaining strong pipeline discipline.
Automation and Process Improvement
Build and optimise automated workflows across inbound acquisition to improve efficiency, lead management, and conversion performance.
Seller Conference Support
Support the organisation and delivery of the annual B&Q Marketplace Seller Conference, working with the wider team to engage merchants and partners.
Required skills & experience
- Proven B2B acquisition ownership
- Demonstrated track record of owning and delivering against acquisition targets within eCommerce, marketplace, or platform environments.
- Inbound funnel & conversion expertise
- Strong experience managing high-volume inbound pipelines and improving conversion rates through effective qualification and optimisation.
- People management & performance leadership
- Experience leading or mentoring individuals, setting clear KPIs, and actively managing performance to drive results.
- Commercial judgement & stakeholder influence
- Ability to assess partner quality and value, and confidently influence internal stakeholders using data and insight.
- Systems & data-driven execution
- Hands-on experience with CRM systems (e.g. Salesforce) and reporting, using data to track performance and drive continuous improvement.
