Key responsibilities
The role of a Buying Administrator is to support the Buyer and Assistant Buyer in the delivery of the category plan, to bring the best products, prices, and innovation to our customers, as well as delivering the B&Q vendor contributions expectations. Working in collaboration with the Category Market Teams, ensuring the activities carried out are done so accurately and timely, and within company policies and procedures.
Key responsibilities of a Buying Administrator are to support in vendor management by developing good vendor relationships, being a key point of contact for vendors as well as ensuring adherence to B&Q processes and policies. You will ensure timely collection of accurate vendor data, identifying errors and ensuring speedy corrections. You will support the creation of a vendor strategy, organising and preparing for vendor meetings and visits. You will support in contract and cost price management, maintaining and creating new contracts in line with company policies and processes. You will show an interest and keep up to date with market news, looking at consumer and product trends, competitors, and the economy. You will support the budgeting and forecasting of contract completion, CPC and vendor contributions, helping to manage risks and issues. You will manage tracker updates and provide regular updates to relevant stakeholders. You will support the team with general administration including scheduling meetings, chasing vendors, arranging travel, and providing meeting minutes.
Required Skills & Experience
We are looking for someone with experience in a retail or buying environment. We are looking for someone with effective communication skills, both verbal and written, who is organised and methodical with the ability to prioritise effectively. We are looking for a team player who is passionate about building relationships and curious to learn more and seek feedback. The ideal candidate will be able to take accountability, be flexible, proactive and remain calm under pressure. Experience with Microsoft programs, particular Excel is essential. We are looking for someone who is energetic and passionate, with a keen interest in developing in the buying environment, they will need to be highly analytical and able to interpret data and maintain trackers.
