Role Purpose: Business decisions made using data are only as good as the data itself, and customers’ expectations on how we use their data continue to grow and evolve. We’re looking for a Data Delivery Manager to deliver on our ambition to bring together data into trusted, accessible and actionable data products that fuel our business strategies.
Key responsibilities
- Owner of all data demand into B&Q data squad & Kingfisher Data teams, ensuring a single, agreed view on key deliverables to drive highest impact and key business strategies.
- Build strong partnerships with leaders across multiple business functions to consult on key challenges, influence priorities, and identify where data can drive performance and efficiency
- Collaborate across Data & Analytics and key business domains, to support in the development of clear data briefs with clear measures for impact and success criteria.
- Lead the shift towards product-oriented, reusable data assets, ensuring existing solutions are scaled and repurposed where appropriate to avoid duplication, accelerate delivery, and drive long-term business value.
- Develop & own the Data Demand Roadmap and oversee the delivery of data products across workstreams.
- Identify & manage team interdependencies and ensure the roadmap is regularly reviewed and agreed to prioritise resource on the highest value deliverables
- Lead the B&Q Data Squad (Data Designers, Data Engineers), managing the workflow and priorities across the squad and support in bringing together broader skillset to deliver on time and to budget.
- Act as an escalation point for issues and risks that could impact agreed scope, schedule, costs or quality
- Establish close work relationships with peers within Kingfisher, adopting common work practices & delivery tooling, and identifying cross functional demand to mitigate duplication and optimize resource aligned to B&Q
- Embed Data Demand forums & establish practices to both collate & triage data requirements and to engage & communicate progress across key stakeholders
- Champion the value of our Data Platform, Data Products and team and showcase impact in driving business strategies with senior leadership
- Manage the lifecycle of our data assets and products through Product kitemarking, ensuring continued review during deliver to continued use to retirement, working closely with Governance & operations to make sure deliveries are compliant and customer centric
- Embed the use of B&Q & Kingfisher data management tooling to drive efficiency in how we build and deliver our programmes of work through the Data Squad
- Work with B&Q Tech & Finance Business partners to ensure effective budget planning, financial management and reporting of the overall programme or portfolio
- Encourage & facilitate continuous improvement within delivery teams, whilst ensuring a level of consistency in delivery best practices adopted across workstreams
Required skills & experience
- Proven track record of leading business change initiatives in a complex global organisation and significant experience in delivery of enterprise level Data, BI or Product solutions in relevant industries
- Experience of creating high performing data squads, through matrixed management
- Expert at project and programme delivery methods (incl. Agile, Waterfall and Hybrid), with significant experience in leading and communicating status, impact, etc of data programmes of work
- Experience in building strong, collaborative relationships across all levels of the organisation
- Highly organised and structured in approach, equally adepts at identifying opportunities as risks and mitigation strategies to ensure consistent, high quality deliveries
- Good working knowledge of Data Platforms and use of Data within organisations, and understanding of governance and compliance requirements including knowledge of budgeting and financial management
- Strong appreciation of process design and implementation and how to embed these within a new team/function
- Strategic thinker with the ability to implement strategies through pragmatic and realistic roadmaps and actions plans
