Key responsibilities
To provide strategic direction for the development of an ecommerce trading strategy and plan across all categories and sales channels, driving strong execution through teams to accelerate digital growth. Working across B&Q and Kingfisher to develop and deliver mechanisms for profitable growth and digital participation across both first party and third-party products. This role leads on driving commercial performance, unlocking tech priorities to drive conversion on site and identifies and delivers commercial opportunities alongside commercial teams, Marketplace, Supply Chain and Suppliers.
Primary focus is to deliver the sales ambition, utilising trading levers and onsite optimisation.
Required skills & experience
Key Accountabilities / Responsibilities:
- Responsible for leading the development and implementation of B&Q (including Tradepoint) ecommerce trading strategy, including the trading calendar and merchandising optimisation. Galvanising support and action from key stakeholders across B&Q and Group to ensure alignment with the plan.
Define and deliver through the team all strands of the strategy including:
- Drives the translation of customer and market needs into a robust e-commerce trading plan across all categories and sales channels
- Accountable for delivering the trading ecommerce strategy to deliver sales objectives
- Leading the team to maximise profitable growth by actively seeking to identify sales and profit driving initiatives.
- Building partnerships across Commercial, Marketplace, Marketing and Supply Chain to ensure we continually optimise trading opportunities
- Drive the optimisation and development roadmaps, with particular focus on Findability
- Collaborating with matrix teams across Kingfisher to develop technology deliverables to support the growth plan.
- Drive optimisation of customer experience on site through best-in-class merchandising, E2E campaign delivery and alignment with the marketing plan
- Utilising and progressing AI capabilities to drive both the customer experience and resource efficiencies.
- Support the strategy and delivery of onsite monetisation through retail media by working with the Retail Media team to define an integrated approach to delivering revenue through the Ecommerce platform
Leadership
- Lead the digital team to create omni channel thinking through business wide communication that builds digital knowledge and understanding.
- Influences positively around the business to create engagement for the digital vision. Invest in relationships to build digital knowledge and understanding with key stakeholders.
- Engages and motivates all team members to deliver extraordinary results.
- Works in collaboration with the Ecommerce Heads of to run the week-to-week business.
- Ensures succession in all key roles through spotting talent, nurturing it and making sure the best people are in roles.
- To develop and drive execution of a profitable e-commerce trading plan across all categories and sales channels.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Committed to creating a culture where people can thrive and be the best they can be
- A confident and experienced leader who creates positive and productive team environments
- Skilled influencer of teams and stakeholder relationships across functions is critical.
- Commercial and Financial acumen to set the strategy against commercial levers to unlock Customer and trading outcomes
- Experience of leading onsite optimisation
- Extensive experience of working with and in matrix organisation structure
- Experience of leading co-ordinated working between internal and Group teams
- Excellent analytical skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, able to influence at all levels
- Experience of working in an agile manner through OKRs
